Queenslanders

Don't be suckered into slick advertising campaigns by furniture retailers claiming to be helping Queensland.

Right now most furniture retailers are claiming to be Queensland owned and operated on the one hand but on the other hand they are refusing to provide you with Queensland made furniture.

These retailers are killing Queensland manufacturing and are sending our money and our jobs overseas.

Every piece of furniture you need for your home or office is made right here in Queensland.

Demand locally made furniture and bedding and give your state the proper boost it really needs.

Don't support retailers that don't support Queensland.

IF IT'S NOT MADE IN QUEENSLAND JUST SAY NO.

www.FurnitureQueensland.com.au will commence a promotion on Channel 9 with the above message and slogan.  It is possible to view the advertisement on YouTube.

This year our efforts at promoting the industry's range of products are more radical than previously.  This is because manufacturers are facing extinction in the face of unfair competition from imports.  The situation is exacerbated by the unwillingness of most retailers to stock Australian/Queensland made furniture.

PREVIOUS:    During the past five (5) years in particular the Association has been very active in seeking to promote the furniture and bedding industry's products to consumers.

During 2007, the Association commenced its Furniture Industry Awareness Campaign (FIAC).  It was the first time manufacturers sought to take their message DIRECTLY to consumers.  This radical step was taken in the face of ever increasing furniture imports that threatened the very existence of our industry.

The FIAC was about informing every man, woman and child about the Australian Furniture Industry and not being shy about extolling the benefits of buying its products instead of imports.  Our partnership with the Australian Made Campaign and logo was considered to be necessary in generating awareness and trust.

It is fair to say the Campaign did not stem the tide of imports.
